ALTAMONTE SPRINGS - Ashley Van Ryn was 3-for-7 with two runs as UCF (10-9) defeated Villanova (2-5), 2-0, and was then defeated by Bethune-Cookman (6-9), 4-3, Saturday afternoon at Merrill Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

"Defensively we played a strong series and offensively we struggled to get the key hits," said head coach Renee Luers-Gillispie. "The final out of the game was a tough way to lose against Bethune-Cookman. I was proud of Allison (Kime) in her one-hitter against Villanova. We will have to come out strong tomorrow and regroup."

Game One:
UCF scored two runs in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly.

Villanova broke up Allison Kime's no-hitter in the bottom of the seventh with two outs on a Cassie Koenig single to right field.

For the game, the Golden Knights had 14 runners left on base to the Wildcats' three.

Kime (6-3) earned the win for UCF, giving up no runs on one hit and five strikeouts, while Kat Walsh (1-2) was pegged with the loss.

Offensively, Van Ryn paced the Golden Knights, going 3-for-4 at the plate with one run scored.

Game Two:
In the fourth inning, Amber Lamb led off with a double to left field. Two batters later, Ashley Baker hit an RBI double into left center, scoring pinch runner Lauren Martin from third.

Alana Gaines gave Bethune-Cookman a 2-1 lead when she hit two-run shot over the fence in left center.

The Wildcats added two more runs in the sixth on a suicide squeeze bunt and a single up the middle.

In UCF's half of the sixth, the Golden Knights put a two-spot on the board when Lindsay Dean hit a two-run single to left center, scoring Magon Paul and Van Ryn.

The Golden Knights threatened in the seventh but were denied by a game-ending double play.

Viveca Patterson (4-5) earned the win for Bethune-Cookman, while Paul (1-4) was tagged with the loss.

The Golden Knights return to Altamonte Springs for the final day of the UCF Tournament Sunday to take on Creighton at 10 a.m.
