FORT MYERS - The UCF women's golf team dropped from second place at the end of round one to its current spot in seventh place after two rounds of play at the GSU/Pelican Preserve Invitational at the Pelican Preserve Golf Club Monday in Fort Myers. The Golden Knights were just two shots out of the lead after an impressive opening round score of 306, only to fall back into seventh place with a second round score of 324.
The Golden Knights (630, +54) trail the event's leader, USF, after the Bulls' carded a 36-hole score of 607 (+31).
Two Golden Knights currently reside in the top 20. Junior Holly Boot (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier) and senior Jessica Trein (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz) are both tied for 18th with a score of 156 (+12). Boot had the best round of any UCF golfer in the first round with a three-over-par 75.
Junior Lauren Motyl (New Bedford, Mass./New Bedford) is 22nd overall (157, +13), just one stroke behind Boot and Trein.
The Golden Knights finish play with 18 holes of golf Tuesday.
