UCF Finishes Third at A-Sun Championships

DeLAND - The UCF women's golf team concluded play at the 2005 Atlantic Sun Championships at the Victoria Hills Golf Course on Wednesday with a third-place showing. The Golden Knights posted a 310 on the final day of play and finished with a 54-hole total of 926.

UCF had five golfers finish in the top 20, led by junior Ashley Grier.

Georgia State claimed the event with a final score of 917, six strokes ahead of second-place Campbell. The Golden Knights finished 13 strokes ahead of fourth-place Troy (939).

Grier carded a 7-over-par 79 on Wednesday and finished in third. Grier has recorded top-20 finishes in three consecutive events. Her 54-hole score was six strokes behind champion Lisbeth Meincke (221) of Georgia State. Meincke posted a 4-over-par 76 today.

Senior Livia Jakobsson (234) shot a final round of 76 and ended up in a five-way tie for eighth, which also featured junior Jess Trein. Trein carded a 79 on Wednesday.

A pair of sophomores - Holly Boot and Lauren Motyl - both finished with a three-round score of 239, good for 18th place. Boot shot a final round of 77, while Motyl posted a 78 on the last 18 holes.
