Men's Golf Travels to Tallahassee for Seminole Intercollegiate

March 4, 2005

ORLANDO - Nick Clinard will take his UCF men's golf team to Tallahassee this weekend for the Seminole Intercollegiate at the Golden Eagle Country Club, where the Golden Knights will be looking to continue their ascent in the rankings. The 12-team field will play 18 holes per day Sunday through Tuesday.

UCF is ranked 34th in the latest Golfstat team rankings, the highest ranking in Clinard's four-year tenure as head coach. The Golden Knights are also ranked 41st in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Collegiate Rankings.

UCF finished runner-up in the Seminole intercollegiate last year. Of the current players on the roster, Andreas Hoegberg was UCF's highest finisher as he tied for eighth at 4-over-par 220.

Clinard is going to take the same lineup to Tallahassee of four freshmen and one senior that has represented UCF in the last two events. Hoegberg, the lone senior, will be joined by Preston Brown, Giwon Suh, Ben Leong and Chris Anderson. Stefan Wistorf will compete as an individual at Golden Eagle.

A disappointing final day kept the Golden Knights from a better finish in their last outing in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. UCF dropped from a tie for eighth to 11th over the final 18 holes.
