Stefan Wistorf is a highly skilled golfer who possesses a solid all-around game. He is one of two seniors on the team and will be looked to for leadership this year. He has the most tournament experience in the UCF lineup with a total of 89 rounds under his belt.
As a Junior (2004-05): Wistorf had some early success, but couldn[apos]t sustain it by the end of the year. He played in a total of seven events on the year, five in the fall with the team and two in the spring as an individual. Of the five fall events he posted three top 20 showings, including a runner-up finish at the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate in Tampa. He opened the event with his lowest round of the year when he posted a 4-under-par 68. He went on to finish the event alone in second place at 1-under-par. He tied senior Andreas Hoegberg for the highest finish among UCF golfers in the season-opening event, the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational, where they both placed eighth. He finished the year with a 76.76 stroke average and had two sub-par rounds.
As a Sophomore (2003-04): Wistorf had a solid year with seven top 20 finishes in 13 events. He posted three top 10 finishes with his best tournament being an eighth-place tie at the Birkdale Collegiate Classic. His best round of the year was a 3-under-par 69 in the opening round of the Fall Beach Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala. He finished the event at 7-under-par and tied for 10th. He also excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the Atlantic Sun All-Academic Team. In the summer after his sophomore year he finished fourth in the Florida State Amateur Championship.
As a Freshman (2002-03): Wistorf captured medalist honors to become just the third Golden Knight in school history to win the conference title at the 2003 Atlantic Sun Championships. His three-day total of 203 was the lowest three-round total in A-Sun history, topping the previous mark set by Colin Montgomerie. He earned all-tournament honors and was named First Team All-A-Sun. He finished second on the team in scoring average at 73.59 and led the team with five top-10 finishes and seven top-20 performances. He was the only golfer on the team to win a tournament during the year. He was the team[apos]s top finisher at five tournaments. He tied for third at the Coastal Carolina Invitational in Myrtle Beach S.C. and tied for fourth at the Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. His low round of the year was a 6-under-par 66 in the second round of the A-Sun Championships.
Prior to UCF: Wistorf played at the Pendleton School in Bradenton, Fla. after spending the first part of his prep career in Germany. He garnered a lot of junior golf experience on the American Junior Golf Association tour where he picked up seven top 15 finishes, including one runner-up finish. He also excelled on the Future Collegians World Tour, earning first team All-America honors. He picked up a win in that tour[apos]s East regional championship and also picked up a runner-up finish in the Grand Haven Junior Classic. He picked up a fourth-place finish in an International Junior Golf Tour event at Champions Gate near Orlando. He also had success in United States Golf Association events, finishing first in sectional qualifying for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and finishing fifth in local qualifying (Bradenton, Fla.) for the U.S. Open in 2002.
Personal: Stefan Wistorf was born on April 19, 1985 in Germany, and is the son of Wolfgang and Ulrike Wistorf. He is a liberal studies major with a minor is hospitality management.
