Diego Salas is in his first season as the volunteer assistant coach and director of operations for the UCF men's soccer team. Salas is responsible for aiding in the day-to-day operations of the squad and is currently enrolled in the UCF DeVos Sports Business Management Program
He competed as a defender for the Borregos of the Tecnologico of Monterrey , a Division I school in Mexico. His squad captured the 2007 Intercampus Championship.
Salas continued playing soccer at a semi-professional level in Mexico with several teams.
He earned a Masters degree in International Soccer Businesses with a focus on Coaching from the Johan Cruyff Institute in 2011.
In the community, Salas served as the sports coordinator for the Oviedo YMCA where he was in charge of developing the soccer program and coaching several teams from 2013-2014. He guided the Orlando City Lions U-10 squad during the 2014-2015 campaign.
