Alysiah Bond arrived at UCF in the spring of 2007 after spending a year on Joi Williams[apos] staff at Murray State. She brings with her a wealth of experience in the basketball world with a resume that includes coaching, administration and broadcast media.
[quote]It is with tremendous honor and excitement that I join Joi at UCF,[quote] said Bond. [quote]Everyone who coaches is in search of the right fit and I have found that under her direction. She is a dynamic leader whom I have had the privilege of working with and learning from during a fantastic run at Murray State. The challenge of elevating UCF women[apos]s basketball to a perennial championship caliber program is one that I fully embrace. I am thrilled to be a member of the UCF family and am committed to excellence from our student-athletes in the classroom and on the court[quote].
During her time at MSU, Bond helped develop the skills of the perimeter players, including Second-Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree Amber Guffey, as the Lady Racers posted a 21-10 record and earned a bid to the Women[apos]s National Invitation Tournament. She also aided in recruiting and scouting and performed other administrative duties.
Prior to her arrival at Murray State, Bond held a similar position for two years at Tennessee State. She also served as the director of women[apos]s basketball operations at Tennessee from 1998-2001 and as director of special programs for USA Basketball in Colorado Springs, Colo. for a year.
In addition to her coaching and administrative background, Bond has extensive experience in sports broadcasting, beginning as the color analyst for Lady Vols games in 2000. She also worked as a sports anchor, reporter and producer at NBC affiliates in both Knoxville, Tenn. and Columbus, Ohio.
A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Bond played point guard at Ohio State for four seasons, helping the Buckeyes advance to the NCAA Championship game in 1993. She was also named OSU[apos]s best defensive player and was voted captain her final two seasons.
Bond holds a bachelor[apos]s of science degree in marketing at Ohio State.
