Spencer Bala joined the UCF Athletics Sports Performance staff as an Assistant Director in July 2025, overseeing the Softball as well as the Men's and Women's Tennis programs. Bala previously served in the UCF Football Sports Performance department as an intern from 2021-2024, including a stint as Interim Olympic Assistant and Director of Football Sport Science, where he directed the implementation of the Catapult GPS tracking system into Football and contributed to championship-winning campaigns in Softball and Track & Field.
Before returning to Orlando, Bala was a paid Strength & Conditioning and Sports Science Professional Intern with the University of Georgia football program from Feb. 2024-July 2025. In Athens, he played a key role in implementing and analyzing performance technology and data such as 1080 Motion Sprint 2, Perch, Catapult, and Vald systems, while additionally assisting with off-season, summer, in-season and NFL Combine training programs. For the Bulldogs, his work helped contribute to a 2024 SEC Championship, more than 100 in-season speed personal records, and the development of both current and future NFL athletes.
Bala began his career in 2019 at Coastal Carolina University, where he spent two and a half years as a strength and conditioning intern working with a wide range of Division I programs. He programmed and led training for multiple sports and helped contribute to a 2020 Sun Belt Football Championship.
A native of Rock Hill, S.C., Bala earned his bachelor's degree in Exercise and Sport Science with minors in Coaching and History from Coastal Carolina University in 2021, followed by a master's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Central Florida in 2023. Spencer is Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), and a Level 1 Weightlifting Coach through USA Weightlifting.
