Nick Zieziula is in his third campaign at UCF as an assistant coach. He joined the Knights[apos] staff in July 2008 after three years as an assistant at Buffalo.
With the Knights, Zieziula assists with recruiting, practice organization and individual instruction. He is also responsible for managing the Knights[apos] video analysis.
In 2010, Zieziula helped the Knights post a successful season. Despite playing a challenging schedule that included eight nationally-ranked teams, the squad went 12-8. UCF spent nearly the entire spring campaign in the national rankings. The Knights earned the No. 3 seed - the best in school history - at the Conference USA Championship. In the quarterfinals at the tournament, UCF was a 4-2 winner over East Carolina.
During the campaign, Brock Sakey became the winningest singles player in UCF history. Sakey, who finished his career with 85 victories, was selected to the All-C-USA First Team. UCF also excelled off the courts during the campaign as five Knights garnered C-USA Commissioner[apos]s Academic Honor Roll status.
In his first year in Orlando, Zieziula helped the Knights enjoy a strong campaign. UCF entered the national rankings in March after a win over No. 59 Florida Atlantic. Zieziula mentored Blaze Schwartz, who recorded 15 victories in dual-match play and earned a spot on the All-C-USA Second Team. The Knights also did well in the classroom as four players received conference academic honor roll recognition.
Zieziula was a standout student-athlete at Buffalo. When he concluded his four-year career in 2005, he was the Bulls[apos] all-time leader in both singles wins (69) and doubles victories (65) at the Division I level.
As a senior, he garnered All-Mid-American Conference Second Team honors. Zieziula was a UB Scholar Athlete and an Academic All-MAC honoree in 2003-04. He earned his bachelor[apos]s degree in psychology.
During his time as an assistant at his alma mater, Zieziula also served as a part-owner of a pro shop and worked as a teaching professional.
