Devala Gorrick joined the UCF staff in the summer of 2022 as a volunteer goalkeeping coach for the men's soccer team.
Gorrick’s Professional playing career extends over 12 years in over 6 different countries, competing in over 350 professional games. Along with playing, Gorrick has coached at all different levels of the game including college, professional, PDL, academy, youth and more.
When Gorrick was 15 he was sent to the Bundesliga's Bayer Leverkusen Academy for training and trials, gaining professional exposure and experience while playing for the youth academy. Gorrick started his professional career playing as a backup for Miami FC while the team was coached by the infamous ‘Zinho’. This led to his first starting position at Bayamon FC in Puerto Rico. Gorrick played an important role in helping lead Bayamon to be Puerto Rico Soccer League Champions in 2009
In 2010, Gorrick signed a one-year contract with Thailand football club Pattaya United FC. During this season, he played in the top division of Thai football, the Thai Premier League, starting for Air Force United F.C. for the 2011 season. In 2012 & 2013, Gorrick was chosen to the Thai Premier League All Star team.
Following a trial at IK Frej in the Swedish Division North, Gorrick was offered a two-year contract, on the recommendation of Goalkeeper Coach and former Sweden Goalkeeper Magnus Hedman. Gorrick immediately established himself as the club's first choice keeper. In his second competitive start for the club, Gorrick starred against Swedish Champions League giants Malmö FF.
Gorrick returned to North America in 2014 and signed for Ottawa Fury FC and started 14 league games for the NASL league. In 2015 he signed with the Colorado Springs USL Championship team, the Switchback FC and started their first two seasons, receiving the 2016 ‘Goalkeeper of the Year’ nominee.
2017 saw Gorrick get acquired by Saint Louis FC of the USL and started 21 games. After leaving St. Louis Gorrick moved back to Colorado to retire as a full time goalkeeping coach. He is also the founder and creator of Futbox Company, a soccer subscription box.
His experience as a long time pro player along with the knowledge he gained from coaching with some of the best goalkeeper coaches in the sport makes him a passionate coach with the goal of helping players realize their path to the next level, whatever level that may be.
Gorrick grew up in Gainesville, FL and played most of his competitive youth soccer in Orlando FL.
