Alex Gott joined the UCF men's soccer program on Feb. 24, 2020 as the team's Director of Operations. He comes to Orlando from Mercer where he was a graduate assistant for two years and had a hand in the soccer team's two conference championships.
Gott is a graduate of Eckerd College, where he was a goalie from 2014-2018 and was a team captain during the 2016-2017 season. Gott was actively involved as a student-athlete in his time at Eckerd, taking part in many events and organizations on and off the pitch.
Gott earned a pair of prestigious awards as a student-athlete during his time at Eckerd. He received the James R. Harley Award, which is given to a male student-athlete that has demonstrated leadership and excellence throughout their tenure with Eckerd College. He also received the Mark W. Smith Award, which honors a senior student who has given outstanding service to the campus community and demonstrated excellent leadership at Eckerd.
Gott helped organize Eckerd's on-campus Special Olympics from 2014-2018. He helped in ensuring that student-athletes would participate and encourage the Special Olympic athletes.
During 2017 and 2018 he was part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He was nominated president both years. While president, he made efforts to improve relationships between the student-athletes and Tampa Bay community.
Gott was a residential advisor at Eckerd from 2016-2018. He oversaw 31 residents, organized monthly events and handled budgets each month while promoting school activities.
On the pitch, Gott was part of the Scotland National Team U17/19 camps in 2014. In 2017, he was the camp director of SoccerPlus Camp, where he worked with goalkeepers of all ages and used his leadership skills to coach skill sets and drills for the campers.
