ORLANDO – UCF women’s soccer scored early and often en route to recording a 7-0 victory over Iowa State in the regular-season finale on Thursday night at the UCF Soccer Complex. The seven-goal outburst marked the most goals scored by UCF since the 2012 season.

Senior Naomi Clark led the way with her third multi-goal game of the year by notching a brace and adding a pair of assists. Ainsley Moy followed with a goal and an assist while Katsi Bengoa recorded her first career three-assist contest. Fellow senior Bella Douglas also found the back of the net for just the second time of her career. The match served as Senior Knight for the Black and Gold, with eight Knights honored in a pregame ceremony.

With the win, UCF (11-4-2, 6-3-2) has secured the No. 7 seed for next week’s Big 12 Tournament presented by Allstate. The Knights will open play in the tournament’s quarterfinal round on Monday versus the No. 2 seed Texas Tech. Iowa State dropped to 4-11-4 overall and 0-9-2 in league play with Thursday’s result.

“Everybody contributed tonight. It was a great way to finish a regular season and celebrate our seniors,” head UCF coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said. “I’m proud of the team for holding up our standard for the full 90 minutes. Tonight was a great way to launch us into Big 12 Tournament play with a number of players getting minutes. And I think it was also a good confidence booster for us moving into postseason play.”

Clark and the Knights didn’t waste any time getting on the scoreboard, as Bengoa found Clark for the game’s first goal in the seventh minute. Bengoa fed a through ball to Clark at the top of the box and the striker did the rest for what proved to be her fourth game-winning goal of the year.

The Black and Gold made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute when Moy and Clark found Alysiah Lockette open on the right side of the box for an easy tap-in goal. The goal marked Lockette’s fourth of the year.

Just a couple of minutes after Clark had a goal waved off following VAR review, the senior striker struck again with her second goal of the match in the 28th minute. Bengoa and senior Brooke Mulroney picked up assists on the play.

The Knights then made it 4-0 in the 36th minute when senior Payton Patrick found Tyra Eriksen open near the six-yard box and Eriksen poked it home for her fourth goal of the campaign.

The Black and Gold then capped a five-goal first half with a goal from the senior defender Douglas in the 42nd minute. Bengoa dished off her third assist of the match to Douglas at the top of the box and the senior defender chipped home an arching shot over ISU’s keeper.

UCF outshot ISU 12-4 over the first 45 minutes and 8-0 on target.

The Knights didn’t let up from there, as sophomore midfielder Sophia May found the back of the net in the 55th minute on Clark’s second assist of the contest. The goal marked May’s first collegiate score.

The Black and Gold capped the scoring in the 66th minute, as Ella Holloran found Moy open at the top of the box and Moy buried a shot from distance with the left foot for her fourth goal of the year.

The UCF defense went on to not allow a shot on goal over the full 90 minutes to record its fifth shutout of the year.

Junior goalkeeper Kaïna Cesar earned the win in goal to move to 8-3-2 on the year after playing the first 60 minutes of action. Freshman keeper Virginia Green completed the shutout over the game’s final 30 minutes in what marked her first collegiate action.

Clark led the way with five shots and a pair of goals, while UCF had six different players tally goals and a total of nine individuals recording shots on target.

In all, UCF outshot ISU 26-7 on the night and 12-0 on frame.

With the two more goals, Clark is now tied for the Big 12 lead with 13 goals on the season. The 13 goals mark the most by a UCF player since 2018 with Stefanie Sanders had 13 that season.

The 7-0 victory marked UCF’s highest scoring output since Oct. 19, 2012, when the Knights defeated East Carolina at home by the same score.

Prior to the match, seniors Clark, Douglas, Patrick, Mulroney, Jessica McCullen, Jada Silvest, Maria Tregansin, and Brianne MacDonald were all honored as part of Senior Knight.

A season-high total of 1,171 fans witnessed Thursday’s contest. The attendance figure marked the fifth-largest home crowd in program history.
