ORLANDO – UCF women’s soccer freshman midfielder Daniela Ocampo will represent her home nation of Costa Rica at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland. The tournament will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 5 and come to a close on Sunday, Sept. 27th.

Ocampo and Costa Rica will get underway on Monday, Sept. 7 vs. Columbia in Łódź, Poland, at 12 p.m. ET, on Telemundo. Following their opening match, Costa Rica will stay in Łódź to continue their play in Group E against Korea DPR on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 9 a.m. ET. The match will be featured on Telemundo and Fox Soccer Plus. They will wrap up their first stage of play against Portugal on Sunday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. ET in Sosnowiec, Poland. The contest will be aired on Fox Sports 2 and Telemundo.

Ocampo brings plenty of tournament experience and leadership, as she previously competed for Costa Rica at the 2024 U-20 World Cup, where she played with former UCF goalkeeper Genesis Perez Watson. She also lent her talents at the 2025 U-17 World Cup, where she was a team captain for her home nation. Ocampo served as a steady presence at the 2025 tournament, starting all three contests for Costa Rica.

Earlier in her career, Ocampo played for Liga Deportiva Alajuelense from 2022-2024. She helped the club place second at the U-15 and U-20 national tournament in 2022 and 2023, respectively, before guiding Liga to a U-20 national tournament win in 2024. She also served as Liga’s captain in 2023 and 2024.

Prior to joining the Black and Gold, Ocampo played club ball for Sporting FC San José from 2024-2026. While there, she was a part of the 2024 club that won the U-20 national tournament to become a Super Cup Champion.

Following the group stage, Ocampa and Costa Rica will look to continue their run in the knockout stages and beyond. The third-place match is set for Saturday, Sept. 26 at 12 p.m. ET, while the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup final will take place on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 12 p.m. ET.
