ORLANDO – A member of the First 8+ in back-to-back historic seasons, junior Brigitte Kappler has been named an All-American Honorable Mention as announced by the CRCA.
Kappler joins teammate Hannah Lovejoy as well as Julie Poulsen, Chelsey Lauzon and Krystina Sarff as fellow Knights who have garnered All-American honors. In addition to the national nod, Kappler followed the likes of Lovejoy, each taking home Big 12 Rower of the Year following the conference championship.
A staple in the First 8+, Kappler sat in the three-seat for a majority of the season, not leaving the Knights top boat once. Along with the conference’s highest individual honor, Kappler also was named to the All-Big 12 team and was a member of the First 8+ when it was named Big 12 Boat of the Week twice this season.
Kappler is among 57 other D1 athletes who earned the honor, each demonstrating high athletic performance within their respective teams. Each honoree must meet criteria including racing in at least 75 percent of the season’s races in the program’s top boat.
