JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The track and field team closed out its regular season on a high note this weekend at the East Coast Relays, recording multiple top-10 finishes and several new personal bests to carry strong momentum into the postseason.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Freshman Jasmine Ross highlighted the Knights lone field event on Friday finishing within the top-ten with a 5.97m mark in long jump.
- The 200m was the premier event for the Black and Gold on Friday evening, with four of the eight competing Knights turning in new personal records. Jazmen Newberry led the way with a 22.82 time to finish fourth, while Datavia Hunter (23.51s), Twaneise Johnson (23.62s), Deja Shaw-Huckaby (23.68s), and Toni Galloway (24.05s) followed suit to each lock in their new PRs.
- The 5000m wrapped up a dominant first day from UCF as both competing Knights clocked a new personal-best to finish within the top five. Madison Patchan brought home a silver finish with a 17:25.12 time, while Emily Wheldon finished fifth at 17:34.19.
- After a rain delay on Saturday, the 100m hurdles resumed for the Black and Gold without missing a beat. Toni Galloway finished ninth in the prelims with a time of 13.59 seconds to qualify for the finals, where she improved to an impressive 13.06 seconds.
- Six Knights wrapped up the 400m, with Shaw-Huckaby and Brianna Rodriguez adding to the weekend’s list of personal bests. They finished in 53.69 and 56.05 seconds, respectively, with Shaw-Huckaby’s mark ranking ninth all-time in the program record books.
