TUCSON, Ariz. – Saturday night added another memorable chapter to UCF track and field’s growing dominance in the Big 12 Outdoor Championships. Behind a pair of relay medals and another strong showing in the hurdles, the Knights once again proved themselves among the conference’s top programs.

"We really had a great weekend. We have one Big 12 Championship in the 4x1. We have a silver medalist in the 100H 400M and the 4x4 . We are leaving with two new school records. We are also leaving with a few personal bests as well. I’m proud of this team’s efforts and ability to show up when it counted. We will now prepare for a postseason run."

Head Coach Dana Boone

MEET HIGHLIGHTS

  • The 4x100 relay team led the way for the Knights, delivering a breakthrough moment for the program. Aaliyah Gipson, Janiah Pulliam, Datavia Hunter and Jazmen Newberry teamed up to win UCF’s first Big 12-era gold medal in the event, crossing the line in 43.57. The victory also marked the Knights’ first conference title in the 4x100 since 2023.
  • The Knights also continued their tradition of excellence in the 100m hurdles, a signature event during head coach Dana Boone’s tenure. UCF earned its sixth consecutive top-three finish in the event at the outdoor conference championships, led by Toni Galloway’s silver-medal performance. Galloway clocked a personal-best 12.85, the third-fastest time in program history.
  • In the field events, Eva Bruce capped a season of steady progress with a fifth-place finish in the heptathlon, totaling a personal-best 5,616 points. Her mark stands as the highest point total by a Knight at a conference championship and UCF’s best heptathlon finish since joining the Big 12.
  • Newberry also shined individually outside of the relay. The senior earned silver in the 400m dash with a record-breaking 51.17, setting both a new personal best and a new program record in the process.
  • Johnson added another podium finish to Saturday’s strong showing, placing eighth in the 400m with a time of 52.65.
  • Angelina Horn closed out her senior season on a strong note, placing 10th in the triple jump Saturday evening. Horn recorded an impressive 12.90m mark, missing a spot in the finals by just 0.001m. Despite the narrow margin, the jump was good for a new personal best and moved her to fourth all-time in program history.
  • Genelle Stephens continued to elevate the standard for UCF hurdlers under Boone, finishing seventh in the 400m hurdles in 57.80. Stephens became the first Knight to qualify for the event final during the program’s Big 12 era and the first UCF athlete to reach the podium in the event since 2022.
  • The Knights’ 4x400m relay squad closed the weekend on a high note, as Johnson, Deja Shaw-Huckaby, Pulliam and Newberry combined to earn silver with a program-record time of 3:28.09. The mark was just 0.04 seconds shy of gold medalists Texas Tech and currently ranks 22nd nationally.
  • Overall, the Black and Gold finished 10th with a total of 41 points.
