ORLANDO – The No. 19 UCF Knights women's tennis closed out its dual-match home slate in dominant fashion Friday evening, defeating the Kansas State Wildcats, 4-1, in a fitting Senior Night sendoff.

The Knights (16-3, 9-2 Big 12) secured their second consecutive undefeated season at the USTA National Campus with the victory. Since head coach Bryan Koniecko took the reins ahead of the 2016-17 season, UCF has enjoyed remarkable success at home, compiling a 103-24 record. Meanwhile, the loss drops the Wildcats to 5-11 overall and 2-8 in conference competition.

"We've grown so much. So much has changed for us...each week we're learning how capable we are, how strong we are if we play with the right energy."

Head Coach Bryan Koniecko

The Knights set the tone early, claiming the doubles point with wins on courts two and three.  Jade Psonka and Vladislava Andreevskaya were the first to strike, earning a commanding 6-2 result on court three to give the Knights an edge. The tandem of Olivia Bergler and Lauren Seye decided it, though, holding steady on court two for a 6-4 victory.

In singles play, UCF quickly took control, with Marina Gatell wasting no time putting the Knights up 2-0 with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 win on court three. The Wildcats continued to fight back, holding an edge on the top courts, but their efforts were soon stifled as Seye’s 6-3, 6-4 decision on court six inched the Knights closer to victory.

Psonka ultimately delivered the clincher, sealing the team victory with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph on court five and securing a perfect home slate for the Knights while capping off a memorable Senior Night.

Kansas State picked up its lone on court four after Andreevskaya retired from the match. Meanwhile, Bergler was just moments away from securing the victory holding a 6-3, 6-5 advantage on court two, while Jantje Tilbuerger fought back in her second set, 6-7 (7-9), 4-3, one court one.
