TAMPA, Fla. – Track and Field turned in a strong all‑around showing at the USF Invitational on Saturday, posting multiple top‑10 finishes and personal bests during an action‑packed day at the USF Track & Field Stadium.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- UCF set the tone early in the long jump, where Kimberly “Tuti” Smith led the way with a 6th‑place finish, landing at 5.99m to finish sixth overall.
- The Knights’ distance squad continued its upward trajectory in the 3000m steeplechase, where Daisy Ross surged to a runner‑up finish in 11:22.53. Teammate Emily Wheldon followed closely, placing 4th in 11:35.46, giving UCF two top‑four finishers in the event.
- Meanwhile, Alexandra Raquet continued her standout campaign, putting her name in yet another spot in the UCF record books, running a personal-best 4:25.12 in the 1500m to secure the third-best time in program history.
- The Knights sprint group shone in the 100m, where Ese Awusa led the group with a second‑place finish, clocking in at 11.40. Khristel Martindale and Aaliyah Gipson each posted 11.70, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively, while Deja Shaw‑Huckaby added a season‑best 11.74 to finish ninth and round out the event's top-10 finishers.
- Raquel Edwards has continued to drop her 800m time consistently in the early outdoor season, and Saturday was no different, as she led UCF with a personal-best 2:10.82 to finish ninth in the event.
