ORLANDO – Following a dominant weekend on the road, the UCF women’s tennis team has moved up to No. 19 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, as announced on Tuesday morning.

The Knights are now second in the Big 12, boasting a 7-2 conference mark, while the national ranking matches their highest so far this season.

The Black and Gold took on No. 43 Houston on the road this weekend and controlled the match from start to finish.

The Knights set the tone early by sweeping the doubles point. Olivia Bergler and Lauren Seye opened with a dominant 6-1 win on court two, and Jade Psonka and Vladislava Andreevskaya quickly followed with a 6-2 victory on court three to clinch the point.

Houston briefly evened the score at 1-1 in singles play, but wins from Bergler and Jantje Tilbuerger restored control for the Knights, giving them a 3-1 lead.

Shortly after, Gatell sealed the team victory on court three, bouncing back from a second-set setback to secure a 6-3, 0-6, 6-2 clinching win. The victory marked the freshman’s 10th dual-match win of the season and her fifth match-clincher.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Knights will return home this weekend for their final two home games, facing Kansas State on Friday, April 3, and Oklahoma State on Sunday, April 5. The Knights' game against Oklahoma State on Sunday will begin at noon, with senior celebrations set to take place 20 minutes prior to the match start time.
