Track & Field's 4x400m Relay Claims First NCAA Indoor Medal

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – UCF Track and Field’s 4x400m relay team delivered a historic performance Saturday evening, becoming the first relay squad in program history to earn a medal at the NCAA Indoor Championship.

"This was an interesting 4x4 final. There were definitely some extenuating circumstances. However, to leave here with some hardware and make school history is a wonderful thing. Very proud and happy for these young ladies."

Head Coach Dana Boone

The Knights’ lone representatives at the meet inside the Randal Tyson Track Center, Janiah Pulliam, Genelle Stephens, Twaneise Johnson and Jazmen Newberry, made program history, placing seventh to secure the first First-Team All-American relay honor for the Black and Gold.

The 4x400m relay becomes the second consecutive Knights relay squad to earn an All-American recognition and the program’s first medalist since the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships, where Ranyiah Jones claimed bronze in the 100m hurdles.

Competing in section two alongside Kentucky, Texas and USC, the Knights crossed the line second with an impressive 3:30.99 mark. A strong third leg from Johnson set up anchor Newberry, who closed the race to secure the runner-up finish for UCF. Texas was later disqualified from the final results, solidifying the Knights’ place among the meet’s top finishers.
