ORLANDO – UCF women’s tennis team is set for a busy weekend back at USTA National Campus, wrapping up its non-conference competition with a duo of in-state matchups.

The Knights will face the Florida Atlantic Owls on Friday, Feb. 20, at 6 PM, before taking on the Stetson Hatters on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 12 PM.

LAST TIME OUT
The Black and Gold is coming off a dominant 2-0 weekend, defeating FIU 4-1 before closing out the weekend trip with a 4-2 victory over the Miami Hurricanes.

Despite rolling out an unfamiliar doubles lineup against FIU, the Knights wasted no time setting the tone, securing the doubles point with a 6-3 victory from Jantje Tilbuerger and Marina Gatell on court one. Only tightening their grip in singles play, Vladislava Andreevskaya needed little time to secure a straight-sets win, 6-2, 6-2, on court six. Maintaining control throughout, senior Tilbuerger put the finishing touch on the afternoon, sealing the match on court two and clinching the Knights’ 4-1 triumph.

Just two days later in Coral Gables, the Knights remained strong, opening with the same doubles lineup against Miami. Although they faced a tougher battle, it was a familiar scene as Tilbuerger and Gatell secured the doubles point with a gritty 7-5 win on the front court over Dominika Podhajecka and Raquel Gonzalez.

After battling back and forth in singles play to knot the match at 2-2, the pressure shifted squarely to the remaining courts. With the dual hanging in the balance, Tilbuerger delivered a poised, commanding performance on court two, closing out a 6-3, 6-2 win to give the Black and Gold a 3-2 edge. Minutes later, Jade Psonka delivered the decisive point on court six, 6-4, 6-3 to clinch the match, 4-2.

QUICK HITS

  • Senior captain Jantje Tilbuerger was named the Big 12 Player of the Week on Feb. 17, 2026, after delivering a flawless performance at the No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles positions, going a perfect 4-0 combined against FIU and Miami. The senior surrendered just 11 total games across the two matches; she now boasts an impressive 5-1 singles record on the young season.
  • Freshman Marina Gatell has played a key role in the Knights’ strong start to the season, compiling a 3-0 singles record and a 5-1 mark in doubles, highlighted by an undefeated 2-0 record on doubles court one and a 2-0 record on singles court three.
  • UCF’s top-25 streak was snapped this week, slotting in at No. 39 in the Feb. 19, 2026 ITA Poll. Prior to that, the Knights appeared in the top-25 for 17 straight ITA polls.
  • Only two Big 12 teams made the top 25 in the latest rankings: Arizona St. (No. 11) and Oklahoma St. (No. 25). Also joining UCF in the Feb. 18 poll were, Texas Tech (No. 32), Utah (No. 33), TCU (No. 33), Arizona (No. 40), Baylor (No. 42), BYU (No. 47), Houston (No. 48) and Colorado (No. 56).
  • Olivia Bergler and Lauren Seye have emerged as one of the team’s most reliable doubles pairs early this season, consistently delivering decisive victories, most recently highlighted by a 6-0 sweep of Florida State’s M.B. Deatherage and Cade Cricchio. Undefeated so far, they slotted in at No. 61 in the latest ITA Doubles Rankings (Feb. 18, 2026).
  • Now in his 10th season at the helm, head coach Bryan Koniecko stands as the winningest in program with a total of 148 to his name at the end of the 2024-25 season.
