Despite rolling out an unfamiliar doubles lineup, with none of the three pairings having competed together this season, the Knights didn’t miss a beat in seizing early control. Jade Psonka and Lauren Seye set the tone on court three, cruising to a 6-2 win. Moments later, Jantje Tilbuerger and Marina Gatell secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory on court one. Over on court two, Hannah Rylatt and Daryna Shoshyna were in command as well, leading 5-4 when play was halted.
Riding the surge from doubles, Vladislava Andreevskaya carried the momentum straight into singles, needing little time to secure a straight-sets win, 6-2, 6-2, on court six over Viktorie Hazmukova.
FIU briefly answered, as Katerina Mandelikova put the Panthers on the board with a win over Shoshyna, snapping Shoshyna’s 9-match-winning streak, but any hope of a comeback was short-lived.
Freshman Seye restored control on court four with a decisive 6-4, 6-2 victory over Aleksandra Simeva. Moments later, senior Jantje Tilbuerger put the finishing touch on the afternoon, sealing the match on court two and clinching the Knights’ 4-1 triumph.
