The No. 50-ranked doubles team of Olivia Bergler and Lauren Seye wasted no time giving the Knights an early advantage, cruising past M.B. Deatherage and Cade Cricchio, 6-0, on court three. Although the Seminoles answered with a victory of their own on court one, they were no match for the Black and Gold, who quickly secured the doubles point with a 6-3 victory from Daryna Shoshyna and Marina Gatell on court two.
Florida State looked to shift the momentum as singles play began, quickly evening the match at 1-1 with Deatherage’s 6-2, 6-4 win over Jantje Tilbuerger on court four. But, before the ‘Noles could get much firepower behind them, the Knights responded on the second court, where Bergler jumped out to a 6-1 lead over 44th-ranked Millie Bissett before she was forced to retire with UCF leading 3-2 in the second set.
Seye pushed the Knights to the brink of victory with a straight-sets win on court five, defeating Tina Li, 6-4, 6-3, while her teammate Gatell clinched the match for the Black and Gold just moments later, outlasting No. 96 Laura Putz on court three for a 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 triumph.
