LUBBOCK, Texas – UCF track and field’s sprints and multis squad delivered a strong showing Friday at the Stan Scott Invite, making the most of their lone day of competition in the Lone Star State.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
- Assistant coach Brody Honeycutt’s revamped jumps squad continues to raise its ceiling, highlighted by Kimberly “Tuti” Smith’s third-place finish in the long jump. Smith recorded a leap of 5.97m, a mark that ranks 10th all-time in the UCF record books and came in just her first outing as a Knight.
- Sophomore Aaliyah Gipson had a solid performance across the day, turning in new PRs in both the 60m dash (7.54s) and 200m (24.17s)
- Veteran hurdler Ese Awusa qualified for the 60-meter hurdles finals alongside transfer Toni Galloway. Galloway eventually took fifth with a time of 8.44 seconds, while Awusa followed in seventh at 8.61.
- The Knights continue to build a dominant 4x400-meter relay team, as Genelle Stephens, Twaneise Johnson, Janiah Pulliam, and Jazmen Newberry clocked a 3:38.26 to finish second and record the ninth-fastest time in program history.
