Men's Hoops Edges Colorado, 95-86

BOULDER, Colo. — Five players scored in double figures and UCF men’s basketball leaned on a blistering shooting performance to secure a 95-86 road victory over Colorado on Saturday afternoon inside the CU Events Center.

The Knights knocked down 62.5% of their attempts from beyond the arc and held a 32-23 rebounding advantage to earn their fourth Big 12 win of the season. UCF improved to 15-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play, while Colorado fell to 12-8 (2-5).

After Colorado opened the game with a 7-0 run, UCF quickly settled in behind its perimeter shooting. John Bol put the Knights on the board with a dunk before Themus Fulks buried a three to even the score at 7-all. Carmelo Pacheco followed with a pair of triples, and Devan Cambridge and Chris Johnson added back-to-back threes to give UCF momentum midway through the first half.

The Knights went 10-of-13 from long range in the opening period, tying their season high for made three-pointers in a half. Cambridge capped a 36-36 tie with an and-one to spark a late surge, and Pacheco hit his third three of the half to help UCF take a 49-47 lead into the break.

UCF picked up right where it left off in the second half as Keyshawn Kugel drilled three consecutive three-pointers to push the Knights’ lead to eight. A steal and two free throws from Jordan Burks extended the advantage to double digits, and Riley’s fifth three of the game kept Colorado at bay.

The Buffaloes trimmed the deficit to six with under three minutes remaining, but Kugel responded with his sixth three of the afternoon — a new career high — to swing momentum back to the Knights. UCF closed the game by converting its final nine field-goal attempts, sealing the 95-86 victory.

Kugel led UCF with 22 points, while Fulks added 19 points and eight assists. Jamichael Stillwell finished with 15 points on 6-of-10 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Cambridge scored 11 points, Johnson chipped in 10 and Bol grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.
