Armour Named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention, Ninth Knight to Receive the Honor

by Alex Clough

ORLANDO - History has followed Avah Armour’s 2025 campaign from the jump, as the junior has compiled a list of recognitions in a single season that most players don’t reach throughout their career.

On Wednesday morning, the highest honor was bestowed upon Armour, securing the program’s ninth AVCA All-American honor and the first since 2022. Named an honorable mention, the Colorado native is one of 99 athletes to receive the nod and just one of 13 in the Big 12 to do so.

This is a proud moment for the UCF volleyball program and a great honor for Avah. We asked a lot of her this season, and to see the fashion in which she rose to the occasion, time and time again, really highlights what a special talent she is. I am so happy to see her being recognized at the national level for her efforts!

Matt BotsfordHead Coach

A breakout campaign for the Colorado native saw Armour post career-best totals of 457 kills and 513 points, becoming the 12th player in program history to eclipse the 500-point milestone. A pivotal returner under first-year head coach Matt Botsford, the junior emerged as a cornerstone for a UCF squad that recorded the fourth-largest year-over-year RPI improvement in the nation, climbing 139 spots from 2024.

Armour elevated her play in conference action, finishing fourth in the Big 12 in points per set during league matches (3.75) while consistently delivering against top-tier competition. Her season-long average of 4.35 kills per set ranked seventh in the conference and 32nd nationally.

She recorded double-digit kills in 26 of 29 matches, including a stretch of 14 consecutive contests from Sept. 19 to Nov. 8. Among several career-high performances, her signature outing came in a five-set battle in her home state of Colorado, where she erupted for 30 kills and 34.5 points against the Buffaloes.

Armour registered five matches with at least 20 kills, highlighted by three straight performances against Houston (28), Texas Tech (27), and BYU (25), helping define a transformative season for the program. A complete player on both ends of the court, she also ranked second on the team in digs (208) and fifth in blocks (46), underscoring her impact beyond the attack.
