ORLANDO – The UCF women’s soccer team capped its homestand with a 0-0 draw to Kansas State on a rainy Sunday afternoon at the UCF Soccer Complex.
The Black and Gold defense came up big in the contest, as the team recorded its fifth shutout of the season on the day. Goalkeeper Genesis Perez Watson also notched her fifth clean sheet of the year by stopping all five shots on frame put up by the Wildcats.
The Knights moved to 8-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in league play with the result, while K-State now holds a 5-4-3 record and 0-3-2 Big 12 clip.
“It was a tough match today. It wasn’t about our work ethic, preparation, or competitiveness. I thought that we came out and threw everything out on the field. But today just didn’t go our way,” head UCF coach said. “We spent a lot of time defending, and to come away with a shutout is something I’ll celebrate.”
K-State came out as the aggressors offensively, by getting off eight shots in the opening 45 minutes with a pair of those being on goal, but Perez Watson and the Black and Gold defense were there to deny the Wildcats on those chances.
With the game still scoreless and the rain really coming down after the break, Tyra Eriksen got off a shot from the right side of the box, but it was saved by Kansas State’s keeper.

After UCF’s Perez Watson recorded a trio of saves over the next few minutes, Liz Worden then passed ahead a through ball to Honoka Hamano. Hamano got off a shot in the center of the box, but the chance was again stopped by K-State’s Maddie Sibbing in the 84th minute.
The defenses for both sides continued to play well down the stretch, as neither side got off a shot over the final six minutes.
Eriksen and Worden led the way for the Black and Gold offensively with two shots apiece, while Andra Mohler paced the Wildcats with four shots. In all, K-State outshot UCF 18-10 on the afternoon and 5-3 on frame.
Despite the draw, UCF holds a 2-0-1 mark over its last three matches.
Sunday’s match featured a special celebration for the Black and Gold, as more than 40 UCF women’s soccer alumni and their families gathered for the annual Alumni Game. The group was honored on the pitch prior to kickoff, recognizing their lasting contributions to the program and its legacy.
“We’ve had some truly special players come through this program—legends, I’d say. They’ve left an incredible legacy, and the fight we showed today was a direct reflection of the foundation they built,” Roberts Sahaydak said.
