GAINSEVILLE, Fla. – The UCF men’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the ITA Southeast Regionals this past weekend, with sophomore Clement Lemire leading the Knights’ charge and reaching the quarterfinals in a hard-fought three-set battle.
The multi-day event began with Luca Hotze earning his spot in the main draw after a gritty 7-6, 6-3 win over Georgia’s Cooper Johnson. In the next round, Hotze fell to FAU’s Segundo Goity Zapico, 6-1, 6-3.
Making his collegiate debut, Pedro Rodrigues impressed early with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 victory over USF’s Timeo Gaillard. His win was followed by another strong performance from Nicolas Oliveira, who cruised past Georgia State’s Gabriele Datei, 6-3, 6-0, to advance to the round of 32.
Lemire capped off singles play on day one with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win over FGCU’s Hugo Magnusson, continuing the Knights’ momentum.
In doubles action, the pairing of Wissam Abderrahman and Paul Colin secured UCF’s lone doubles win of the day, defeating USF’s Elijah Cham and Guglielmo Verdese, 8-2.
