ORLANDO - UCF rowing’s I Four has been named the Big 12 Boat of the Week after a large margin of victory at the Longhorn Invitational last weekend.
This marks the third time this season a UCF crew has garnered this honor, following the I Eight securing the title for two consecutive weeks earlier in the season. This boat is the fourth in UCF history to earn the honor, the first crew of four to secure the title.
The boat consisted of junior coxswain Sophia Tursi alongside junior Cate Maloney, freshman Sofia Palacios, freshman Kesha Bruinette and sophomore Amber Tulloch.
The Black and Gold crew were the first of three UCF boats to claim a first-place finish at the Longhorn Invite on Saturday morning. They crossed the line with 18 seconds of open water, the largest lead for the Knights of the weekend. The I Four finished ahead of then No. 22 Oklahoma at 08:07.524 and SMU at 08:09.188.
The conference honor follows the release of the Pocock CRCA Poll announced on Tuesday afternoon where the Knights held steady at No. 15 for the fourth consecutive week. They remain the only Big 12 program to appear in the polls.
The Knights will return to the water on Sunday, May 4 for a dual against Miami beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a Senior Day ceremony following racing.
