MOBILE, Ala. – The UCF men’s golf team has been at its best in the past few weeks, as the Knights finished second in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course after winning the ECU Intercollegiate two weeks ago. The Black and Gold were under par in all three rounds of the tournament, finishing with a nine-under-par 843.
UCF was one of just two schools under par in the event, along with the host and champion South Alabama (-21), while Valparaiso was third at three over.
Lucas Dutartre led the Knights with a three-round score of 207 to finish six strokes under par and tie for seventh on the player leaderboard. He was under par in the first and third rounds and even in the second round. Dutartre carded a 69 (-2) Tuesday with three birdies in a bogey-free back nine.
Tallying his second consecutive top-20 finish, Clemente Silva was 19th on the individual leaderboard with a 214 (+1). He was one under par (70) in the final round Tuesday, firing a bogey-free back nine with a pair of birdies.
Chase Haygood and Hans Risvaer each logged a 215 (+2) to tie for 20th. Haygood shot a 70, 72, and 73, while Risvaer fired a 76, 70 and had his best round of the week with a 69 Tuesday. Risvaer had it going on the back nine, dropping in four birdie putts in a bogey-free back nine.
Gustav Andersson was the final member of UCF’s lineup and tallied two birdies in the third round to end the day two over and six over for the tournament (219). Jakob Stavang Stubhaug competed as an individual and put together a strong performance, carding a three-under-par 210 to tie for 10th on the player leaderboard. He was two over par in Tuesday’s final round, headlined by a bogey-free front nine.
UCF returns to action at the UNC Collegiate held April 12-13 at the Finley Golf Club on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s campus.
