MOBILE, Ala. – Headlined by junior Lucas Dutartre carding a four-under-par 67 to tie for fifth on the player leaderboard, the UCF men’s golf team is in second place with a 282 (-2) following the first day of competition in the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate held at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course.
Dutartre put together one of his best rounds of the season thanks to five birdies Sunday and a bogey-free back nine, where he was four under. After an early bogey on hole No. 3, the Paris, France, native was locked in the remainder of the way to sit three strokes behind the individual leader in the field and lead the Knights with a 67 (-4).
Clemente Silva also had a strong day on the course with a 69 (-2), as he’s tied for ninth on the leaderboard. Silva dropped in five birdie putts and was three under through his last seven holes, headlined by a birdie on hole 18.
Chase Haygood is also among the top 15 after the first day with a 70 (-1). He carded four birdies and played well throughout the first round, but a double bogey on hole 14 pushed his score to one under.
Hans Risvaer and Gustav Andersson rounded out the lineup for the Knights with scores of 76 (+5) and 79 (+8), respectively.
Jakob Stavang Stubhaug competed as an individual and had a great day with a one-under-par 70 to tie with Haygood on the individual leaderboard at 11th. Stubhaug also had five birdies and was one of five Knights to end the day with a birdie on 18.
With inclement weather expected Monday morning in Mobile, the second round is slated to begin at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT with a shotgun start.
