GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The UCF men’s golf team wrapped up its first day of competition at the Vystar Credit Union Gator Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, as the Knights are tied for 12th with an 11-over-par 571. Following the first two rounds of action, the Black and Gold are just one stroke shy of three teams tied for ninth at 10-over.
UCF was six over in the first round as a team and improved upon that mark in the second round at five over.
Gustav Andersson turned in a strong first day, as he is tied for 19th on the player leaderboard with a 139 (-1). He shot an even par 70 in the opening round with four birdies and followed that with a 69 (-1) in the second round, dropping in an additional two birdies. Chase Haygood recorded a bogey-free first round and birdied hole No. 13 to tally a 69 (-1). In the second round, Haygood carded a 73 (+3) with a birdie on No. 17 to end the day tied for 33rd with a two-over-par 142.
Jakob Stavang Stubhaug was two over in both rounds with six birdies on the day, as he’s tied for 44th with a 144 (+4). He birdied six different holes through the first two rounds.
Hans Risvaer had a tough first round with a five-over-par 75, but bounced back nicely in the second round with a 71 (+1). He had six bogeys in the first round and trimmed that number down to two in the second 18 holes. Risvaer is six over through 36 holes
Lucas Dutartre carded a 148 (+8) following the first two rounds with a 75 in the opening round and a 73 in the second round.
UCF was stellar on par 3s throughout the day, as the Knights’ 3.10 stroke average on par 3s was tied for the second best among the field.
The Black and Gold return to the course for round three Sunday starting at 7:20 a.m.
