ORLANDO - The UCF track and field team will be dividing and conquering this upcoming weekend as the squads split up to compete in two highly anticipated competitions. The sprint and jump squads will be traveling to Arkansas to compete in the Tyson Invitational, while the distance squad will be headed to Nashville to participate in the Music City Challenge hosted by Vanderbilt.

STARTING BLOCKS

  • UCF previously competed in the Music City Challenge last year and the Knights are looking to build on their momentum. Karen Dobiasch had a standout performance in the Women’s 600m, finishing 7th overall.
  • The distance squad is coming off of a successful showing at the Celebration Pointe Classic that saw PRs from both Abby Clements and Penelope Sosa
  • Senior Kiah Williams will look to build on an incredible farewell campaign. The Miami native has set personal bests in the 200m and 400m already, along with running a leg on the Knights’ 4x400m program record-breaking squad.
  • Asherah Collins is looking to build upon her previous showing in the triple jump, which landed her a second place finish at the Stan Scott Invite.

EVENTS TO WATCH

  • 400m (Friday at 6 p.m.) - All eyes will be on senior Kiah Williams as she attempts to land a top-place finish in her signature event. Kansas State transfer Twaneise Johnson will join her in the invitational section.
  • 4x400m Relay (Saturday at 4:40 p.m.) - Earlier this month, UCF’s 4x400m team ran a 3:33.81, smashing the program's long-standing record in the event. The squad is looking to continue this momentum into this next performance against the top teams in the nation.
  • 3000m (Saturday at 4:50 p.m.) - The aforementioned Sosa will strive to continue her climb in the record books as the Miami native is third in the program's history after her performance in Clemson earlier this month.
