LOUISVILLE, Kentucky - Two Knights claimed victory in their respective events to conclude an eventful Rod McCravy Memorial Saturday afternoon at the Norton Health Sports and Learning Center.

We have started our 2025 season campaign with a lot of positives that we can build on in the future. The main thing is we came out healthy and that’s what’s most important. We will go back and get some training in to prepare for our next competition.

Similar to Friday, it was coach Honeycutt and the jumps squad who got the day started in domination fashion. Asherah Collins secured her first event win of the season in her signature triple jump, besting the field with a strong debut mark of 12.70m.

Alexis Waller tallied her second consecutive personal best, this time in the triple, with her jump of 12.13m, securing seventh in the process.

The first of two semis saw I’Asia Wilson punch her ticket to the 60m finals, crossing the line at 7.42 to place third. Minutes later, the Nigerian tandem of Adaobi Tabugbo (8.25) and Ese Awusa (8.43) went third and sixth in the 60m hurdles.

Wilson didn’t have much time for rest, following up the first two rounds with an eventual fourth-place finish in the finals of the 60m with her time of 7.37. In a similar style, Tabugbo secured a second-place finish (8.20), while Awusa wasn’t far behind in seventh (8.46) of the 60m hurdles finals.

In the 400m, Kiah Williams was simply better than the rest, opening her indoor slate in the event with a first-place finish and a time of 54.46. Just two spots behind her in third, Twaneise Johnson ran the seventh-fastest time in program history at 54.79, capping off a great first meet in Black and Gold.

The lone solo distance event of the weekend for the Knights produced a pair of top-10 finishes and personal bests just milliseconds apart. Abby Clements, who broke out during the cross-country campaign in the fall, finished seventh with a time of 5:07.47. Penelope Sosa essentially crossed the line at the same time in eighth at 5:07.49.

Saturday’s action concluded with three UCF squads embarking on the 4x400m relay. The premier group consisting of Paige Archer, the aforementioned duo of Williams and Johnson, along with Deja Shaw-Huckaby ran the third-best time in Knights history, also landing third with a time of 3:37.51.

UCF will stay in the Sunshine State next Friday as they travel north to Gainesville for the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday, January 17.
