FORT WORTH, Texas – The UCF volleyball team fell 3-0 to No. 18 TCU on Thursday night at Schollmaier Arena.
The Knights (8-12, 1-10) recorded a total of 37 kills and 33 digs, whereas the Horned Frogs (16-5, 8-3) notched 48 kills and 39 digs.
UCF was led by Heidi Bonde with 10 kills, followed by Avah Armour with nine. Defensively, Chloe Scheer led with 10 digs, while Armour recorded three blocks.
The first set started with an even battle as the two squads went back and forth for the first nine rallies. The set included four kills from Bonde and an ace from Armour. UCF fought hard going on a 3-0 run at the end of the set, but were unsuccessful as the Horned Frogs took set one, 25-21.
The Knights started off strong in set two with Armour recording back-to-back kills and Alexia Kuehl recording an ace. A block by Armour was able to tie the set at 18. UCF took the lead towards the end, but a late scoring run led to TCU taking the set 26-24.
The Horned Frogs opened up the set going on a 3-0 scoring run. UCF continued to battle hard with several lead changes in the set. The Knights made it a hard battle, it was not enough as TCU took the set and the match.
The Knights will finish up their road trip against Baylor on Saturday, November 9 at 2 p.m.
