Netzel Earns First Team All-Big 12 Honors

by James Warnick

IRVING, Texas – UCF senior forward Chloe Netzel has earned First Team All-Big 12 Women’s Soccer honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.

Netzel received first team all-conference accolades after being one of the league and nation’s top goal scorers all season long. She is currently tied atop the Big 12 Conference with 11 goals scored, which is good enough to tie her for eighth nationally. The 2024 Black and Gold team captain ranks second nationally in shots on goal per game (3.07), fifth in shots per game (5.21), 12th in goals per game (0.79), and 23rd in points per game (1.64). These tallies are all good enough to lead the Big 12 Conference in each category.

During the 2024 campaign, Netzel led the Knights in goals, shots (73), shots on goal (43), game-winning goals (2) and points (23). She also recorded a trio of braces on the year and found the back of the net in eight of UCF’s 15 games. Netzel got off to a stellar start on the season by scoring in each of the Knights’ first give games as well as found the back of the net eight times through the Black and Gold’s first six matches. Her 11 goals on the year marked the most by a Knight since 2018 when Stefanie Sanders managed to score 13. With 11 goals on the season, she capped her distinguished collegiate career with a total of 30 goals.

"We’re incredibly proud of Chloe for earning First Team All-Big 12 honors. This recognition is a testament to her relentless work ethic, resilience, and competitive spirit. Chloe is the type of player who always pushes herself and her teammates to be better every day, both on and off the field. Her drive and dedication have been a huge asset to our program, and this honor is so well-deserved. We’re thrilled to see her efforts recognized in such a meaningful way."

Head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak

The first team all-conference accolade marks the first of Netzel’s career. She previously earned Preseason All-Big 12 honors prior to the season as well as Big 12 All-Tournament Team recognition last season. During her time at Xavier in 2021 and 2022, Netzel received All-BIG EAST Freshman Team and BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors. She also earned Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association NCAA Division I All-Ohio First Team honors in 2022.

The first team All-Big 12 honor for Netzel marks the lone recognition for the Knights.

TCU’s Bella Diorio was named the Big 12 Forward of the Year while her teammate Oli Pena took home Midfielder of the Year recognition. TCU head coach Eric Bell was tabbed the Big 12 Coach of the Year after leading the Horned Frogs to the 2024 Big 12 regular season championship. Texas Tech’s Macy Blackburn received Big 12 Defender of the Year honors, while Colorado’s Jordan Nytes was tabbed the Goalkeeper of the Year, Arizona State’s Kierra Blundell earned Freshman of the Year recognition, and Oklahoma State’s Alex Morris claimed Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors.

UCF had its 2024 season come to a close in the regular-season finale last weekend. The Knights finished the year with a 3-6-6 overall record and a 13th place finish in the conference standings with a 1-5-4 mark. The 2024 Sprouts Farmers Market Big 12 Championship will get underway from CPKC Stadium in Kansas City on Wednesday. The top 12 teams have qualified for the tournament.
