PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Headlined by two golfers among the top 10 on the individual leaderboard, the UCF men’s golf team turned in a strong first day at the FAU Invitational held on The Champion course at PGA National Resort.
The Knights are in sixth place with a 586 (+18) following the first two rounds thanks to a 289 (+5) in the first round and a 297 (+13) in the second round.
Junior Lucas Dutartre turned in a strong showing with a two-under-par 69 in the first round and a 73 (+2) in the second round to tie for fourth on the player leaderboard with an even par 142 after the first day of competition. The Paris, France, native dropped in four birdie putts in the opening round and another in the second round.
Hailing from nearby Daytona Beach, Florida, Chase Haygood had two stellar rounds Monday with a 72 (+1) in each round. He had two birdies in the afternoon round after having one during the morning session. Haygood is tied for sixth at two over (144).
Sophomore Hans Risvaer shot a 73 (+2) and a 76 (+5), while Clemente Silva carded a 152 (+10) with a pair of 76s in each round. Risvaer is tied for 37th and Silva is just outside the top 50 in a tie for 54th.
Felix Schrott rounded out the lineup for UCF with a 156 (+13) after firing a 75 in the first round and an 80 in the second round. Jakob Stavang Stubhaug competed as an individual, recording a 73 in the first round and a 77 in the second round to compile a 150 (+8). He’s tied for 45th on the player leaderboard.
The Knights will conclude play in the FAU Invitational Tuesday morning, as the final round will commence with a shotgun start.
