ORLANDO – The UCF women’s soccer team will host Miami in a preseason exhibition on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. Admission will be free of charge and open to the public.
The exhibition will mark UCF’s second and final of the preseason. The Knights faced off against Fort Lauderdale United FC of the USL Super League last weekend in Davie, Florida.
The Knights, who are entering their second season of competition in the Big 12 Conference, were recently picked to finish sixth in the new-look 16-team league. UCF finished sixth in the Big 12 a season ago with a 10-7-1 overall record and a 5-4-1 conference clip.
A trio of Knights were named to the Big 12 Preseason All-Conference Team on Thursday in senior forward Chloe Netzel, sophomore defender Jessica McCullen, and freshman forward Edidiong Etim. Netzel earned Big 12 All-Tournament Team accolades a season ago after leading UCF in goals (7), points (17), and game-winning goals (4), while McCullen was tabbed to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team last year, and Etim joins the Knights after playing for Nigeria’s U17 National Team and Bayelsa Queens FC of the Nigerian League.
Head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak is back for her 12th season at the helm of UCF women’s soccer. During her tenure in Orlando, Roberts Sahaydak has led the Black and Gold to five NCAA Tournament appearances and four conference titles.
Following Saturday’s exhibition, UCF will officially begin its 2024 campaign at Florida Atlantic on Thursday, Aug. 15 at 7 p.m. The Knights will then host Utah Valley on Thursday, Aug. 22 at 5:30 p.m. in their 2024 home opener.
