Track and Field Shines Again at Scarlet and White Invitational

by Alex Clough

BOSTON – The UCF Track and Field completed action in Boston this weekend with another strong showing at the Scarlet and White Invitational. Rayniah Jones and Kiah Williams both secured the top collegiate times in their respective events, as the Knights will now prepare for their regular-season finale next weekend.

We had some good performances today from Kiah and Rayniah as they improved on their season's best. It was a solid day overall but we will regroup and get ready to run at Clemson next week.

The first of two events of the day saw three Knights line up for the 400m. Kiah Williams led the collegiate field with her second-place finish, clocking in at 53.32, her fastest mark of the season. The Hallandale native now has back-to-back top-two finishes as she continues to grow following her 400m title at the 2023 American Athletic Indoor Championships.

Freshman Janiah Pulliam has impressed throughout her first collegiate meets. This afternoon, she secured her second-best time of the season with her 56.06 performance, just .03 seconds off her personal best.

It was a fitting finale to the weekend in the 200m, as Rayniah Jones claimed her second-consecutive event win, taking first with a season-best 23.51. The All-American now has three first-place finishes thus far and two in the 200m.

Jones was followed by three other Knights in the top 10, including yesterday’s 60m winner at the Crimson Elite, I’Asia Wilson, who ran a 24.04 to claim sixth. In eighth, Williams continued her strong day with a time of 24.08, followed by Pulliam in 10th who clocked in at 24.22.

Adaobi Tabugbo (24.53) and Kai’lyn Kirkland (24.90) both secured personal bests, finishing 21st and 34th, respectively.
