Women's Tennis Advances to AAC Finals Thanks to Sweep Over Memphis

ORLANDO – The UCF women's tennis team has advanced to the finals of the AAC Women's Tennis Championship after another sweep over a conference opponent. The Knights quickly advanced past the semifinals with a 4-0 victory over sixth-seeded Memphis on Friday afternoon, wrapping up the match in less than two hours.

The doubles tandems brought the fire to the match, winning the first game on all courts, including a break on court three. Marie Mattel and Sophia Biolay continued their hot streak with a quick 6-0 win on court one. Anique Kattenberg and Jaleesa Leslie got things done on court three, also earning a 6-0 victory to put the Knights up early.

Shifting the energy into singles, UCF took first sets on five of the six singles courts, turning up the heat from the beginning.  Biolay showed incredible dominance at court four, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win, continuously applying pressure to her opponent to strengthen the Black and Gold lead to 2.

Kattenberg continued her victory march, earning her fifth-straight match win, yet again in straight sets. If Kattenberg was tired after doubles, she definitely did not show it, only dropping four games en route to the 6-3, 6-1 win.

The back courts continued to shine, with the clinching point coming from Leslie on court five. Earning break after break, the Knight earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory to send the squad to the finals for the third time in the last four seasons.
