ORLANDO – The UCF men’s basketball team has added Boston College transfer DeMarr Langford Jr. to the 2023-24 roster, head coach Johnny Dawkins announced Tuesday.
“DeMarr brings a well-rounded game to our team,” said Coach Dawkins. “He is a good athlete that played in one of the best conferences in college basketball over his last three seasons and will bring a great deal of leadership to our team.”
Langford averaged 8.8 points per game and shot 44.4% throughout his three seasons of collegiate basketball. A senior on 2023-24 Knights roster, Langford played in 23 games this past season, starting 15. He scored a season-high 20 points on the road at No. 16 Miami on Jan. 11, 2023, just a few shy of his career-high 23-point outing at Notre Dame on Feb. 16, 2022.
Langford reached double-digit scoring seven times last season. During the 2021-22 season, he reached double-digit points in 19 games while averaging 11.3 points a contest. He played in 32 games that season, starting 30.
A consensus top-100 recruit out of high school, Langford was the third-highest recruit in his state and was the 97th overall ranked recruit in his class by ESPN and 94th by Rivals, checking in at 20th at his position.
Langford is the sixth Knight to transfer in for UCF’s inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference. He is joined by forward Omar Payne from Jacksonville, guard Shemarri Allen from UMKC, guard Jaylin Sellers from Ball State, forward Ibrahima Diallo from San Jose State and forward Marchelus Avery from New Mexico State. Two freshmen make up the rest of the eight newcomers for 2023-24, as guards Nils Machowski and Comeh Emuobor are set for their first year of collegiate basketball.
Langford will wear No. 12 for the Knights this season.
