Fifteen Knights Underway in Summer Ball

Fifteen Knights are competing in various summer ball leagues across the country, including a pair in West Virginia and Alaska. Teams in Maryland, New York, Ohio and Rhode Island each feature a Knight and seven Knights have remained local, playing across central Florida.

Along with three returning Knights, incoming freshman Jaxon Goldberg joins the Sanford River Rats for the summer.

Zack Austin made seven appearances with the DeLand Suns of the Florida Collegiate Summer League before signing a free agent contract with the Atlanta Braves following the 2023 MLB Draft.

 

AROUND THE LEAGUES (As of June 17, 2023)

Dominic Castellano has made five relief appearances with the Harrisonburg Turks, fanning a team-leading 17 batters over 12.1 innings of work with a 0.00 ERA. He hasn't allowed an extra-base hit and opened his season with a three-inning, no-hit performance.
 


Cameron Crain is coming off a 5.1-inning scoreless start in which he allowed only three hits and notched five strikeouts to earn his first win for the Anchorage Bucs. In his three appearances, Crain has struck out eight and allowed six hits over 8.2 innings.

Zack Austin has been lights out in his first six appearances, allowing only a pair of hits and two earned runs over 10 innings of work. His 12 strikeouts tie for the DeLand Suns' team lead.

Lex Boedicker has notched eight hits, including two triples, and six runs for the Anchorage Bucs. He's a perfect 5-5 in stolen bases and has struck out only three times.
 


Corey Robinson has three multi-hit games, racking up 11 hits including two doubles and a home run for the DeLand Suns.

Cole Russo is batting .300 and has reached base in eight of his 11 games with an at-bat. Russo has notched eight RBI, six runs and a stolen base to his resume.

Will Melby threw four innings of no-hit ball in his Sanford River Rats' debut, retiring 12 hitters in order after surrendering a leadoff walk. Over his 9.1 innings, he's collected eight strikeouts and allowed four hits.
 


Jack Porter has reached base at least twice in five of his eight games with the Lima Locos, collecting five hits, six walks and six runs.

Nick Vieira's first start with the Leesburg Lightning featured 4.0 innings without an earned run. He struck out four and allowed a pair of hits to earn the win.
