Knights Have Great Day to Wrap up Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The UCF track and field team wrapped up their third meet of the season at the Florida Relays with an impressive performance, setting multiple personal bests along with Rayniah Jones winning the 100-meter hurdles with her time of 12.75. Jones ran a 12.76 in the prelims before her event-winning time that is currently third in the nation and fourth in the world.

"What a weekend for UCF track and field! I'm super proud of this team's total effort," said head coach Dana Boone on the meet. "We had Rayniah win the hurdles and run one of the fastest times in the country, along with numerous personal bests as well. We continue to build and move this program forward in the right direction and I'm excited to see what the future holds for this team."

Following the 100-meter hurdles prelims, which also saw Kaylor Harris set the seventh fastest time in program history with her 13.37 performance, the Knights took third in the 4x100 relay finals. The squad of Ani Wells, I'Asia Wilson, Beyonce Defreitas, and Janyah Jasper ran the tenth-best time in program history as they took third with their 43.77 performance.

Defreitas was just getting started as she then ran an 11.16 in the 100-meter dash to take fifth in the event. That time is now third in program history as she's now set a new personal best in back-to-back weeks. I'Asia Wilson's time of 11.44 was fast enough to grab tenth on the all-time list. Williams too continued her great form in the 400-meter dash as along with Defreitas, set the third-best time in program history with her 52.54 performance as she finished in seventh.

Jasmine Scott-Kilgo finished in sixth with her 12.64m (41-5.75) mark in the triple jump. Kaliah Jones then ended the day with her fourth-place finish in the high jump with her 1.71m (5-7.25) performance.
