ORLANDO – The UCF track and field team is set to compete in its last two meets of the indoor regular season this weekend before the much-anticipated return to Birmingham as title holders for the American Indoor Championships. Coach Bryan Jackson and distance will travel up to Boston University for the Valentine Invitational while the rest of the squad makes the trip to Clemson for the Tiger Paw Invitational. Both meets will start around noon on Friday and conclude later Saturday.
With just one more meet for the squad and a weekend off ahead of conference, coach Boone will continue to look for progress. Last weekend saw multiple Knights break and match personal records, headlined by Holly Cassels who set a new PR in the pentathlon with 3615 points, the fourth-best mark in program history. Also at Harvard, Asherah Collins hit the track and ran a new personal best in the 60-meter dash with a 7.59 mark, an impressive time for one of the conference's best jumpers. At Gainesville, Kendall Hughes headlined another fantastic day for distance as her new personal record of 2:12.45 in the 800m moves her to eighth in program history.
The Clemson Indoor Track and Field Facility has been a consistent feature on the Knights schedule for the last five years. In 2022, UCF had multiple top-10 finishes, with Rayniah Jones taking eight in both the 200 and 60-meter dashes along with a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Latasha Smith and Kiah Williams took the top two spots in the 400-meter dash. Jasmine Scott-Kilgo, who matched her PR of 6.14m in the long jump last weekend, came third in the event last weekend.
Both meets will be available to stream.
