ORLANDO - The No. 14 UCF women's tennis team fell to No. 25 Pepperdine 4-0 Sunday afternoon at USTA National Campus. The Knights fell short in doubles and couldn't bounce back quick enough during singles play, giving them their first loss on home courts of the spring season.
The Knights were unable to claim the doubles point as Noel Saidenova and Jantje Tilbuerger fell to Pepperdine's No. 1 duo of Savannah Broadus and Januce Tjen, 6-2. The tandem of Sophia Biolay and Marie Mattel battled their way through the set but were ultimately defeated by Pepperdine's No. 27 duo of Lisa Zaar and Bunyawi Thamchaiwai, 6-4.The match on court three went unfinished after the doubles point was clinched by the Waves.
During singles play, the first decision came from court three when Saidenova fell to the 16th-ranked singles player, Broadus, 6-1, 6-1. Shortly after, court one finished action, where No. 31 Mattel dropped to 29th-ranked Janice Tjen, 6-4, 6-2. Tilbuerger fought hard against No. 35 Zaar on court two, but fell short, 6-2, 6-1. The match on court two clinched the victory for Pepperdine, leaving all remaining courts unfinished.

The Black and Gold continue their home stand and look to get back in the win column next Saturday, March 4, hosting No. 23 Miami.
