Knights Wrap Up Tiger-Paw Invite

CLEMSON, S.C. – The UCF track and field team wrapped up its last meet of the indoor regular season in Clemson Saturday and following a strong first day, continued the impressive progression towards the AAC Indoor Championships in two weeks. Kaliah Jones stole the show in the high jump, the Knights first event of the day, setting a personal record with her 1.74 (5' 8.5") mark on her way to a 12th-place finish. The jump now gives Jones a sole spot in third place in program history, the fifth Knight to set a top-five mark this weekend.

"I was very pleased with the performances this weekend, the team is rounding into shape and we keep getting a little better with each week and that's what is important," said head coach Dana Boone on the squad's last meet of the regular season. "This team took care of business at each of these meets in Boston and Clemson. We have some performances now that are ranked within the Top 20 in the NCAA so that's something to be proud of and build on going into conference."

Rayniah Jones' season-best 8.08 mark in the 60-meter hurdles moved her into ninth in the nation and she was followed by Kaylor Harris who set a personal record with her 8.15, which is now 19th in the country.

The first track event of the day was the 200-meter, which saw Ani Wells set a personal best with her time of 24.84. Daija Lampkin and Beyonce Defreitas both continued their good form with two top-25 finishes. The final race of the day was the 4x400-meters, only the second time the Knights have competed in the competition this season. In the triple jump, Asherah Collins and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo both landed in the top-15 with marks of 12.85m and 12.76m, respectively.

The day concluded with the Knights second 4x400 of the season thus far, as the squad of Kiah Williams, Beyonce Defreitas, Latasha Smith, and Kai'lyn Kirkland ran a 3:37.94.

UCF will now head back to Orlando with a two-week break to bridge its trip to Birmingham for the American Athletic Indoor Conference Championships.
