Kiah Williams Awarded Track Athlete of the Week

ORLANDO – For the second week running, the Knights have taken home the American Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week Award, announced the league office this afternoon. Kiah Williams, who ran the 400m in 53.61, took home the honor for the first time in her career.

Williams, competing at the Red Raider Open at Texas Tech, was a step ahead in her heat while finishing third in the event. The time is now the best in the AAC and 15th in the nation, joined in the top-50 by only one other AAC athlete, her teammate Latasha Smith. The time was the best opening mark of her career, as she is one of many Knights who have had great starts to the year. Her mark at the Red Raider Open was only bested by the second and third best times in the country this season in the 400-meter.

Following last week's sweep, UCF has taken three of four weekly awards to start the season. Williams follow's Rayniah Jones, who took home the honor last week. The Knights will head to Gainesville for the Alachua County Collegiate Invite on Thursday and Friday.
