Mia Asenjo Named to USL W League Team of the Year

ORLANDO – UCF redshirt freshman Mia Asenjo was named to the USL W League 2022 Team of the Year.

The USL W League Team of the Year was selected based on individual player performances throughout the regular season and the postseason.

"It's no surprise Mia has earned this recognition," UCF head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak said, "She has worked extremely hard to get to this point after her injury and I know this is only the beginning for her. I'm incredibly proud of her resilience and grit."

Asenjo took the USL W League by storm when she scored 11 goals in 12 matches for Queensboro FC. She scored in every match during Queensboro's eight match winning streak.

The Malverne, N.Y. native has overcome a lot to get to this point. She has yet to make an appearance for UCF due to an injury but made an impact on the USL W League stage. She led her team in points with 23. Her 11 goals were good enough for third most in the entire league.

Asenjo will look to make a difference on the pitch for the Knights this season.

Preseason play begins on Aug. 6 against FAU and UCF will begin their regular season slate on Aug. 18 against Florida at the UCF Soccer Complex.
