ORLANDO – The UCF women's tennis team has unveiled part of its 2022-23 schedule, releasing a fall slate of four tournaments plus a host of ITF events.
The Knights will begin the season in Cary, N.C. at the Ranked Spotlight from Sep. 22-25. At nearly the same time, some members of the Black and Gold will be competing in the Bedford Cup, hosted by FGCU in Fort Myers, Fla. Marie Mattel and Jaleesa Leslie reached the quarterfinals of the event last year while Nandini Sharma reached the semifinals. Sharma won the Bedford Cup back in 2019.
UCF will participate in the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C. from Oct. 1-9. Depending on individual results at the All-Americans, any Knight that qualifies for the ITA National Fall Championships will head to San Diego in early November.
The Knights will be in Atlanta, Ga. from Oct. 13-18 at the ITA Regional Championships. Evgeniya Levashova made a run to the final four of the singles draw in last year's regional competition while Mattel was one of the final eight players.
Eight ITF tournaments sit on the Knights' schedule and include potential stops in Lubbock, Austin, Hilton Head, Florence, Fort Worth, Norman, Champaign, and Waco. Two members of the Black and Gold took part in an ITF event last season.
The Knights will release their dual match schedule at a later date. They currently have two matches on the spring slate, both a part of ITA Kickoff Weekend. UCF will travel to Auburn, Ala. to face No. 17 Arizona State on Jan. 28 before taking on either No. 14 Auburn or No. 22 UC Santa Barbara.
