ORLANDO – The UCF women's golf team was nothing short of dominant in the opening rounds of the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Georgia on Monday, finishing day one at the top of the leaderboard with a 576(E) score, 16 strokes ahead of second-place Memphis.
The Knights opened with a solid 298(+8) round one to sit in third place halfway through the day before exploding with an 8-under 280 second round as four Knights hit par or better to close out the powerful afternoon. UCF was the only team to post a below-par round of golf on the day.
Four Knights currently sit within the top-10 at the conclusion of the first two rounds.
Veteran UCF duo Tunrada Piddon and Alyssa Lamoureux led the Knights on day one as the pair each shot 143(-1) to sit tied for second. Piddon opened with a 2-over 74 in round one before roaring back with a 3-under 69, while Lamoureux also settled in as the day went on, shooting 2-under 70 in the second round after 73(+1) first round.
With scores of 146(+2), Zoe Allaux and Jess Baker are both tied for seventh heading into the final round. Baker struggled to open, turning in a 77(+5) first round before battling back with a 3-under 69 total in round two. Allaux, meanwhile, was much more stable, shooting 74(+2) in round one and 72(E) to close out the day.
Finally, sophomore Camille Banzet shot 75(+3) and 76(+4), tying her for 31st with a 151(+7) score.
The Knights will wrap play in the Brickyard Collegiate with the third and final round on Tuesday. Weather may affect tee times. Full results from day one at the Briar's Creek Invitational can be found below.
